Fellow Sailor's son Ben Savage

Message from ben's family

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for the incredibly generous fundraising that was done for our son Ben last year during his cancer treatment.

2016 was without doubt our hardest time ever as a family. But the overwhelming support and generosity shown to us is something that we will never forget. There is no doubt that it raised Ben’s (and our) spirits knowing that others cared about him as we went through his chemotherapy.

Ben’s first follow-up scan was good this month, and he has a year and a half before the final ‘all clear’. The signs are good. In the mean time we are intent on celebrating the end of 2016, and making 2017 the best year ever.

Apologies if we do not thank everyone personally. This (Ben’s health and your generosity) is still a very emotional issue for us. We were overwhelmed by such friendship and generosity, and hope 2017 brings good health and happiness to you and everyone at the Cronulla Sailing Club.
Lots of love
                   Tim and Jane Savage

A groups of mates want to raise money for their friend Ben Savage.
Ben is a 14 year old who attends Cronulla High school. Recently he was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma in his pelvis and hip.
At the present moment, he is in hospital going through chemotherapy.
Ben’s school mates would like to raise enough money to help his family with medical expenses and to purchase a small “tinny” boat to enjoy when he is well enough to use it. Any left over money will be given to a Children’s Cancer Charity  that the family would like to help support.

Soon Ben’s year 9 school friends will be shaving their heads in support of Ben, who is beginning to lose his hair due to the effects of the chemotherapy.

It would mean a lot to Ben’s mates to be able to support and be of assistance to Ben and his family and his mates would be extremely grateful for any donation.
Donations will also be collected after sailing next saturday by passing the bucket around, please dig deep.
