Tackers 3 – School Term Sailing Program

The CSC Discover Sailing Centre is pleased to welcome you to our Tackers 3 - School Term  2022 Sailing Program. 

This eight week program conducted each Sunday that will include a variety of sailing activities that are focused on advancing your sailing skills. 

The CSC Discover Sailing Centre abides by the Australian Sailing Instructor/Student ratios, hence places are strictly limited. All courses are subject to change with limited notice, based on demand and availability. To avoid disappointment, we recommend registering early.

All dedicated sailing equipment will be supplied during participation in the course.

$350 and includes club membership till the end of the sailing season.

Course Overview

This course aims to build on skills learned in stage 2 and focuses on advanced sailing skills through games and adventures on the water. 

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for children who wish to build on their skills learnt in stage 1 and 2. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

Successful participants will gain a Tackers 3 completion certificate who are able to demonstrate:

  • the correct method and understand of roll tacking 
  • stopping the boat in a confined area
  • the theory behind gybing and can demonstrate the action downwind
  • a sound knowledge of the five essentials:
    • centreboard position
    • boat trim
    • boat balance
    • sail trim, and
    • navigating a course
  • start and finish races on a triangle and trapezoid course
  • tactical mark roundings during a race

 Course Prerequisites

  • At least 8 years of age.
  • Be able to swim 50 meters unassisted.
  • Completed stage 1 & 2 courses.

Important information

  • While supervision will be provided as part of the training program, ultimate responsibility for your child will be each parent’s responsibility and accordingly a parent or representative will need to be within close proximity in the event of an emergency.
